Off To Work We Go

And in other news, it was about this time last week that my doctor cleared me to return to work. I would have posted about this earlier, but my Internet's been out for the better part of the last week, so I'm just now getting around to talking about it.

But yeah, my doctor said I could return to work. Today will actually be my third day back on the job, where I've moved from stocking grocery shelves to working as a cashier. Now I know what you're thinking: "Why would you want to stand in one spot for hours at a time when you're still getting over a broken foot?" That's a good question. And really, the only answer is that since speed is a factor in the grocery department, and I walk at a snail's pace and with a limp to boot, I figured that it might not be the best place in the store for me to work.

And the truth is that the last two days have left my back and feet feeling sore, but I'm hoping that's just because I've been off work for so long that I'm not used to it anymore. I've got some support socks coming in the mail sometime this week, so hopefully that will help out too. I mean, I've come home the last two nights and the soles of my feet have been pink and purple because what I think is blood pooling up in my feet from standing up for so long. (Don't quote me on that, because I'm not 100% positive that's what it is.)

But yeah, I'm a working man once again. I'd been off work four months, and I actually thought it would be longer before I went back. And the truth is that the only things I missed about my job were my friends and the paycheck. If I could have gotten away with collecting a paycheck while just sitting around the house, I totally would have. But that's just not the way it works and I'm back to my job. Here's hoping things go well now that I've returned, because I really don't feel like job hunting again.
