Nerdvana (Yes, I Enjoy Bad Puns)

What's this? A post on this blog where I actually have something to talk about?! I'm as shocked as you are! But yeah, I've actually got some blog-worthy stuff for you in the form of the Lexington Comic and Toy Convention this past weekend.

This was the second year for the convention, spread out over two days as opposed to being only on Saturday like last year's. And that just meant a whole weekend of fun and excitement for geeks like me. I actually managed to drag my mom and a friend along for the adventure, and we all had an absolute blast. While part of the allure was getting to meet some of the celebrity guests, people like Margot Kidder and Billy Dee Williams, the real highlight was the whole atmosphere. For me, the feeling of being among a great big batch of nerds dressed like Stormtroopers, superheroes, and Doctor Who, surrounded by comic books and toys is something special. If they could combine it with a horror movie convention, I'd feel like I had died and gone to Heaven.

The only downside? I was so entrenched in having as much an experience as possible that I forgot to sleep for much of the weekend. That really sucked when I had to go back to work on Monday. I still haven't really caught up on my sleeping yet. But I've got plenty of time to fix that before the next convention I go to, right?
