Killing Bugs and Kicking Ass

Yeah, okay, it's been kinda slow around here. I've mostly been spending my time either being stuck at work or staring at the calendar, counting the days until the big Scarefest horror convention next month.

But I've actually had a couple of things going on lately, mainly this past Thursday when my dad and I hit a theater for a double feature of RiffTrax's latest live show and Kick-Ass 2. I was especially looking forward to the RiffTrax show, considering that I donated some money to their Kickstarter campaign a few months ago. And while I was and still am bummed they couldn't get the rights to do Twilight like they'd hoped, I'm still happy with the movie they got: Starship Troopers.

RiffTrax pissed off a few people by making fun of Starship Troopers, but have these people actually seen that movie? It's totally worth riffing. And the RiffTrax guys absolutely knocked it out of the park with their show. It was a hilarious show from beginning to end, a glorious bit of comedy that was totally worth the time and money I donated. If you missed it, you missed something awesome.

After seeing RiffTrax tackle Starship Troopers, we headed over to the midnight showing of Kick-Ass 2. I've already reviewed it over at that other blog, so feel free to head over there and read that. But I'll tell you heere that the movie was a whole lot of fun. It's a movie worth seeing at least once, especially if you're a fan of the first Kick-Ass movie. So run out and see it soon, okay?

So that's pretty much it for this one. As far as movies go, there's The World's End and You're Next coming up, and I'm sure I'll end up posting reviews of them over at the other blog sometime. And the Scarefest convention I mentioned is next month, so I'll surely be posting about that too. Until then, stay tuned.
