Sutton Watches Smallville

Another episode of Smallville, and another post featuring my Smallville thoughts. Read up, ok?
  • Aw, Clark gets his dad's watch. Five bucks says he trades it to Jor-El next time he needs help after screwing up his relationship with Lana.
  • So is this masked female superhero supposed to be Smallville's answer to Batman? Color me unimpressed. I'd rather have Bruce Wayne kicking the crap out of muggers in seedy alleyways, thank you.
  • Lex is stalkeriffic!
  • Five bucks says "the Angel of Vengeance" would show up in the comics if she weren't such a total ripoff of Batman.
  • Clark Kent, Super-mugger.
  • Whoa, I go and call her a Batman ripoff, and they play a little of the Danny Elfman Batman '89 theme song when that Angel of Vengeance gets unmasked.
  • Evil Lex and Evil Lionel butting heads, huh? There's almost too much evil going on for one show!
  • "You don't know what it's like trading someone's life for yours." Did she not see last week's episode?
  • Holy crap, she is a Batman ripoff. Her mother got killed by a mugger, so she became a superhero. I like Batman and all, but does that whole "Bat-Embargo" thing mean he isn't allowed on Smallville? Because that just plain sucks if it does.
  • "He feels really guilty about the watch." He should feel guilty for inadvertently killing his father instead.
  • "Do you always change in a phone booth?" Hahaha.
  • All that product placement for a bat reference?
  • "He deserves to die"? Batman ain't a killer, honey. That's the Punisher's job. Wait, so now she gets to rip off Punisher too.
  • Wow, there's a bombshell. Lionel put out a hit on Batgirl's mom. I take back the Batman cracks, sounds like she's 100% Punisher-ette.
  • Lionel calling Clark "son" after being used as a representative of Jor-El is just kinda... odd, I think is the word.
  • Martha gets to replace Bo Kent as a state senator? So does that mean, say, Laura Bush could become President should something happen to George, or is this just weird TV logic?
  • Not only is Lex stalkeriffic, but Lionel is too. Like father, like son, I guess.
  • Another reference to Clark's future? They've been making a lot of those lately.
  • And then they call him "the man of steel." Too... much... foreshadowing.
  • Aw, what a nice way to send John Schneider out. (If you weren't watching, the episode concluded with Martha watching an old home movie of him and and young Clark on a tractor, with Jonathan waving at the camera and saying "goodbye.")

So that's all for this week's "Sutton Watches Smallville." I'm off to watch My Name Is Earl, so I'll be around same Super-time, same Super-blog.
